Our History in Motion

Connecting the Past, Present, and a Sustainable Future

ARES’s founding partners met while conducting research at the School of Chemical Engineering – UNICAMP, between 2007 and 2009. After completing their academic projects, they began collaborating as independent environmental consultants, while also working in other professional roles.
As client referrals grew, the need to formalize operations led to the founding of ARES in 2014. The company was born from the partners' combined academic and professional experience in environmental consulting.
Within the first year, ARES expanded operations to several Brazilian states—São Paulo, Rio Grande do Sul, Paraná, Minas Gerais, Espírito Santo, and Rio de Janeiro. A highlight was the team's involvement in an Environmental Impact Study for offshore oil exploration in deep waters.
ARES began working with emission inventories and dispersion studies for sugar and ethanol plants, strengthening its footprint in the agro-industrial sector.
The company started engaging in odor assessment projects, including dispersion studies for a major refinery and a natural gas thermoelectric power plant, expanding its expertise in the energy sector.
By 2019, ARES had consolidated its role in the energy generation industry.
One of ARES’s success stories: the design for implementation of a comprehensive Environmental Improvement Plan for a private company.
In partnership with other consultancies, ARES conducted emission studies for fuel distribution terminals in multiple regions.
ARES initiated several GHG inventories, expanding its activities to Pernambuco, adding to prior projects in Bahia, Sergipe, and Ceará States. The company also completed a new project in Santa Catarina State.
As Brazil diversifies its energy matrix, ARES is evolving alongside it. In 2023, the company delivered its first wind power study and conducted environmental performance assessments for atmospheric emission control in port warehouse operations.
ARES expanded its work in Goiás and increased the number of studies for sugar and ethanol plants, including Environmental Performance Assessments (EDAs) and GHG inventories. ARES also delivered new training programs in environmental management and safety.
Among ongoing projects, highlights include the development of Atmospheric Emissions Monitoring Plans (PMEA) to comply with the new CETESB regulation DD 113/I/2024 in São Paulo. ARES is actively supporting clients in adapting and implementing their compliance strategies.
